Historical Maps Committee 2001- 02 (David Jones)

Committee Members

David Jones 2nd V-P, ex officio, Acting Chair
Gord Beck Order fulfillment
Louis Cardinal Publications Officer
Tammy Hannibal Member
Terri Milton Member

Sales of facsimile maps continue to be steady, although no new facsimiles or bird's eyes were produced, as can be seen in Publications Officer's financial report.

The major focus of the Committee was

  1. the restructuring of the committee and the division of responsibilities amongst a number of individuals and
  2. the initiation of a review of the Facsimile Project with a focus on expanding the marketing and sales of the facsimiles.

Cheryl Woods stepped down as Chair but remains active as a valuable resource for the Committee.

Terri Milton arranged for a Marketing Review and Plan for the Historical Maps to be undertaken as a project by a Danny Forbes, a student in the Business Administration Marketing Course at Nova Scotia Community College. His Review is available on the ACMLA web site, linked from this report. http://www.acmla.org/carto2002/HistMapsMarketing_May18.pdf  It provides valuable observations and interesting ideas from an outside point of view for the Association's consideration. I wish to thank Terri Milton and especially Danny Forbes for their work on this project.

I also wish to thank Cheryl Wood for her dedication to, and excellent management of the Historical Maps Committee and the Facsimile Project.

Respectfully submitted

David Jones, Acting Chair
